A Fire in Louisiana

A house in Ruston, Louisiana burned to the ground yesterday. It appears to have had room for six residents (none were injured), and was located near the campus of Louisiana Tech. Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Why do I know about this fire? Because I saw it in a link to the Washington Post’s website. Why did the Washington Post care about this fire? Because it happened to a Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house!

What would be local news in any other situation, becomes National news when you add the word fraternity (or frat, if you like).
